What Is IP

What is?

is a program that was born out of the mind and spirit of Evangelist Keith Wilson, the founder of Agape Christian Fellowship of Friends Ministries. The group was formed because of the increase in gang activity that is infiltrating the minds and hearts of the world’s youth. Keith, an ex-gang member in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, knew first hand that one of the biggest reasons for the youth to join gangs was the feeling of acceptance, so knowing this he came up with a way to keep the young to change their whole mind-set.

At first glance, Evangelist Wilson noticed how the youth in the local churches were more influenced by gangs and the world, rather than the Church, the Word, and God influencing the youth, so to counteract these effects of gang influence he sought to change this vicious cycle by offering a program for youth and teens in the church. This program was designed to keep them more involved, focused, and motivated in the things of God, which would ultimately cause a domino effect on other youth in churches and the surrounding communities.

Today’s youth are bombarded with what they should not do, but they are rarely challenged with what they can do, often pushing the youth to places where they can do what they want. Leading these impressionable young folks to a life of gangs and street activities. This type of thing can and will be stopped.

How can we help our youth and young adults to avoid this type of life?
Easy. God has given us an entrepreneurial spirit.

have taken the pressure out of peer-pressure and have replaced it with an entrepreneurial Spirit by owning there own mind-set and encouraging others to do the same.

They are the true leaders of this generation.
They are the warriors of honor!
They overcome all obstacles, and tackle all challenges head-on!
This is called IP’N IT.

What is IP’N IT?

Living the life:

Living in a manner that allows us to exemplify outward expressions that give glory to God.

Living as light bulbs for a dark generation, by lighting up every dark thing that we encounter.

Striving to make a difference in our homes, schools, churches, and communities.

Thriving to be examples to an impressionable generation.
Keeping the principles found in Philippians 4:8 in mind, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Inspiring them to be :

1. Focused on the things of God
2. To live for God
3. Motivated in strengthening their relationship with God, as well as
influencing others to do the same.

How does it work?

It seems that in today’s society, we are looking for the answers to all of our world’s youth problems in all the wrong places. We have the answers right in front of us: the Bible. The Bible has given us a specific set of instructions that will help us to solve all problems, if we would only use it. The central focus of IP is one of the basic principles used by the disciples: Fishing.

As far fetched as it might sound, it is true. Many of us fail to understand the principle of fishing, for example: Fishing in a shallow body of water, we always use worms for bait, but any well rounded fisherman knows the deeper into the water you go the less the worms will be effective, so we go and get a small fish to catch the bigger fish looking for food. With these same principles in mind, we have to use the right bait: the youth we already have access to in our churches. That’s right to get these youth outside the church, we must focus first on the youth inside the church. These youth will be the key to drawing in the “bigger fish,” which will make for a bigger catch.

Look at the scripture John: 35:42, “Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples ; and looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God! And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. Then Jesus turned ,and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi,( which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou? He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour. One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, we have found the Messias , which is, being interpreted, the Christ. And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.” (Remember: this is the same Peter that Jesus told “upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hell would not prevail against it”)

Why use our youth as bait? Let‘s look back at the scriptures. Jesus knew that his time was short, he had to use people that had a “learned voice.” So Jesus found ordinary people that would follow him, then he taught them, and he sent them out. You see if we use these principles all we need are “learned voices.“ Who will be our voice to the community and the world: the youth we already have access to. We must develop their voices.

The youth in our communities and world have a learned voice, but not the one that Jesus taught. They have one that is a bent toward worldly things, one that is copied and focused on things that will perish, so it behooves us to get a greater, more powerful voice that will override the world. We have found this voice and it is in our youth. The youth we see Sunday after Sunday. In order to develop the voices of our youth, we have to instill goals by teaching them as the Bible teaches us in Matthew 28:18-20: “Jesus came and spake unto them saying, all power is given to me in Heaven and earth, Go ye, therefore and teach all nations, Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you, and Lo , I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

In the past we only had twice a week to nourish these youth, after that the world had full reign the rest of the time, unless the youth are fortunate enough to have Godly parents, which is an extra bonus but 90% aren’t so fortunate, so it is imperative that we teach them while we have the opportunity. How can we do that?

I am glad that you asked. In order for us to take back our youth and set them on the right path, God has given IP. You see it is a matter of developing that little voice to be a big one. Whatever the talent, gift, or interest…we must develop it to be used for Christ and the building of the kingdom. Our community has very little for the youth, so with nothing to do they often turn to gangs, drugs, and other self-destructive activities. So why not help to focus on God and grow their talents?

In order to do this we must have access to the youth outside of our church walls, those that are in and around the community. This is where the recruitment begins. First, we start with the youth we do have access to by developing their talents, gifts, and goals and help them take steps to meet them. Utilize their talents by way of outlets of expression: Poetry and Spoken Word, Stepping, Dancing, Singing, and more. Whatever you do, do it for the Glory of God.

Once this has been established, we must reach out to the communities youth and give them the opportunity to be involved. Involvement is the key. Youth long to be involved, accepted, and liked, so we do just that: Accept them, Love them, and get them involved.
